What can I sell on Overrun?
Any surplus trade material — timber, steel, electrical cable, conduit, plumbing fittings, roofing sheets, insulation, tiles, pavers, bricks, and more. If it came off a job and there's leftover, it belongs here. Overrun is for trade and construction materials; it's not a general classifieds site.
What if my listing doesn't sell?
Update the price, add better photos, or both. Listings stay live until you remove them or your membership lapses. There's no time limit and no relisting fee.
How long until my item sells?
Depends on what you've got and where you are. In-demand materials in a metro area can move fast. Niche or regional items take longer. Clear photos and a fair price are the main levers you control.
How do I get paid?
Directly by the buyer, outside the platform. Cash on pickup is the most common — the buyer comes to site, pays on the spot, and takes the material. Bank transfer works too; just confirm the method through the chat before they arrive. There's no platform holding your money and no waiting for a payout to clear. You keep every dollar. Overrun's only charge is the flat membership fee.
Is it safe to deal with strangers?
Every seller on Overrun has entered their ABN — that's a real registered Australian business with a traceable identity, which is a different proposition to Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree. Meeting on-site for pickup is completely normal in the trades; most buyers and sellers are just tradies clearing excess from jobs. Use the in-app chat to sort out timing and payment before anyone shows up, and you'll generally know what you're dealing with before they arrive.
Is there a fee per sale?
No. Zero commission on any sale, ever. You pay a flat monthly membership to list and message. That's it.
How does pickup work?
You set the pickup suburb on your listing. Interested buyers message you, you agree on a time, and they come to your site, yard, or wherever the material is. If you'd rather not have people on site, arrange to meet somewhere nearby — that's between you and the buyer.
What does 'ABN verified' mean?
You enter your ABN when you set up your profile. It shows on your listings to signal to buyers that they're dealing with a real trade business, not someone clearing their garage. It builds trust and tends to attract more serious buyers.
Can I sell as a sole trader?
Yes. Sole traders are welcome — you don't need to be a company or have a Pty Ltd. If you have an ABN, enter it on your profile. It'll show on your listings.
What if a buyer doesn't show up to collect?
Relist it. There's no binding contract — same as any direct marketplace. Worth being clear on pickup windows in your listing and following up through the chat before the agreed time.
Can buyers contact me directly?
Through in-app messaging, yes. Phone numbers and emails aren't shared publicly on the platform. Once you've agreed on a deal, you can swap contact details through the chat to sort out the handover.
